What is website maintenance?

Website maintenance is the ongoing work that keeps a website secure, fast and working after launch: software and plugin updates, backups, security monitoring, uptime checks, hosting and small changes. Mint Media offers fixed monthly maintenance plans for WordPress, Shopify, Shopify Plus and custom websites, starting at $450 per month, with no setup fee and no minimum contract.

Plans by platform

Choose your platform

Each platform has three plans: Essentials, Growth and Priority. Higher tiers add developer hours. We reply to requests in about 3 hours on average, and nearly always within 24 hours.

Common questions

Website maintenance, answered

How much does website maintenance cost per month?

It ranges from under $100 for automated update tools to several thousand dollars for enterprise retainers. Most businesses that want a real developer on call pay $400 to $1,200 per month. Mint Media's plans start at $450 for WordPress and Shopify, $600 for custom websites and $1,800 for Shopify Plus.

What should a website maintenance plan include?

At minimum: software and plugin updates tested before going live, daily backups, security scanning, uptime monitoring and a set number of developer hours for changes. Good plans also include hosting where the platform needs it, a clear way to submit requests and a monthly report.

Do I need a maintenance plan if my website is already built?

Yes, if the site matters to your business. Software, plugins and apps keep changing, security threats keep evolving and content goes stale. Without maintenance, small issues build up until something breaks, usually at the worst moment.

Can one company host and maintain my website?

Yes. Mint Media's WordPress and custom website plans include managed hosting, so one team is responsible for the server, the software and the site itself. Shopify plans cover the store, since Shopify includes hosting in its own subscription.
